WILLISTON BASIN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

WILLISTON, NORTH DAKOTA

A STATE-OF-THE-ART AIRPORT PROJECT, DELIEVERED ON TIME AND WITHIN BUDGET

Williston Basin International Airport officially opened to the public on October 10, 2019—exactly three years to the date from its groundbreaking ceremony—making it the fastest commercial service airport ground-up project since the 1940s.

The $273 million endeavor was supported and assisted by U.S. Senators, U.S. Representatives, State Government Officials, FAA Administrators, Governors, City Government and community members alike—not to mention the thousands of workers that made it happen on time and on budget.

Don Cardon served as the Owner’s Representative for the City of Williston on this monumental project and remains heavily involved in the redevelopment of the land the previous airport occupied. Kirk Shaffer wrote the FAA checks for the federal share of XWA and insured regulatory compliance in regard to eligibility, design, and safety.
